Where it is best to rent a car in London?

Hey guys, planning a 4 day road trip from London to Wales and trying to figure out which rental company is actually worth using in the UK.

Considering options like Sixt, Enterprise, Europcar, Turo, Booking.com rentals etc.

Main things I care about:
• decent cars, not completely destroyed
• smooth pickup/dropoff
• no weird hidden charges
• good insurance experience if something happens
• reasonable deposit
• better chance of getting the class booked or an upgrade

I’m 27 if that matters for any companies/policies.

Would also appreciate hearing:
• companies you had genuinely good experiences with
• companies you would absolutely avoid
• whether Turo is worth it in the UK compared to normal rental companies

Trip is specifically for driving around Wales for 4 days, so comfort and reliability matter more than getting the absolute cheapest option.

And please, no “just take the train” recommendations 😅

France visa London still “in process”, trip in 2 days

Hi everyone,

I applied for a French Schengen visa in London on 10 April through TLScontact (short trip 3 days). My trip to Paris is on 12 May early in the morning, and the application status is still showing “in process”.

It has now been almost a month and my passport still hasn’t been returned from the consulate. I already bought Eurostar tickets, and at this point I honestly don’t even know what dates I should move them to anymore.

Has anyone recently been in a similar situation with the French consulate in London?

If your passport came back after your original travel dates, what dates did they usually issue the visa for? Did they still give the visa normally, or did they change the validity dates completely?

I’m really stressed because there has been absolutely no update and the trip is basically in a couple of days now. Any advice or recent experiences would really help.
