I’m moving across the country for him and realized I’m taking basically all the financial risk
My boyfriend (33M) and I (30F) have been long distance between Boston and SF for a little over 2 years. We finally decided I’ll move to SF early next year. It made sense because he works in tech and owns his condo there, while I work in marketing and can probably find another job but now that the move is getting real, I’m realizing I’m giving up my job, apartment, and paying to move across the country while basically nothing changes financially for him. I’d also be contributing to expenses while living in a place he owns. We’re serious and have talked about getting engaged so this isn’t really about doubting us. I just didn’t realize until now how uneven the risk of closing the distance would be.
For those who moved for their partner, did you talk about this stuff beforehand? How did you make it feel fair?
