How hard is it to internally transfer to Mechanical Engineering as a Civil Engineering Student?

So I just got accepted to UT after completely my freshman year (F18) at an Undergraduate college as a mechanical engineering major. I plan to start Fall of 2026 for Civil Engineering but the issue is that I only put it as my number one to heighten my chances of getting in. I put mechanical as my second but that’s the actual major I want to do. How good are my chances, how can I highten them, and does my GPA reset when I get there? I have a 4.0 right now but it might change after my Calc 3 final grade gets put in.

Transfer Applicant as a Freshman! What are my chances and when should I expect to hear back?

Hi I’m a freshman at a 4-year university out of state and applied for transfer to UT back in February. I applied for Civil Engineering while I am currently Mechanical engineering and have a 4.0 GPA with involvement in my schools racing team. When should I expect to hear back and what are my chances for admission?
