Questions/Clarification on the CAP Program Requirements
Iâm doing my CAP year fully online at UTEP. Attached is my schedule, with courses highlighted based on which ones are available online.
A few notes:
- ENGL 1301+1302 and SPCH 1315 via dual credit, plus AP Human Geo (passed it)
- Advisor told me UNIV 1301 (not offered online) isn't required for UTEP CAP (while required for UT Arlington CAP as I saw on the CAP website)
Just making sure:
- Does contemporary math (e.g., MATH 1319 at UTEP) count as 'beyond college algebra' and meet the math requirement for CAP, or will I have to take another listed higher math course? Someone said it isn't considered as 'above' college algebra.
- Is dual credit GPA excluded entirely from CAP GPA for guaranteed admission, meaning it will be solely based on the grades that I earn at my assigned CAP institution?
- Under Science/Technology, do I have to take three lecture sciences, or may I take one? Do I also have to take a course under Humanities (ENGL 2311/2312) if I have those English Composition dual credit courses, or is humanities suggested?
- Does CAP guarantee your second-choice major (if you didnât get into the competitive first-choice one), or a 3.2 GPA isnât enough at all, where theyâll put me UNDECLARED? Iâm deciding between putting BSDS as a first-choice or second-choice major option.
Ultimately, you could also just check if my CAP schedule meets CAP requirements. If anyone that did CAP had a similar schedule as the one I have, please feel free to share which campus you attended and the course numbers you took. That would be helpful too!
