Current Junior aiming for McCombs - thoughts?

I'm a junior at Kingwood High School in Texas, and UT Austin McCombs is my top choice. I'm curious what people think of my profile so far and whether there's anything I should be doing differently before applying.

Academics:

  • Rank: 11/700 (top ~1.6%)
  • GPA: 5.63 weighted, 4.0 UW
  • 1290 PSAT sophomore year, did not study
  • 30 on PreACT 8/9 freshman year
  • No SAT/ACT yet

Extracurriculars:

  • VP of Finance for my school's DECA chapter (300+ active members)
  • Working on an investing app for DECA competition
  • Cofounder and VP of a good drive club
  • Young Men's Service League
  • Two years of tennis

Relevant courses - Accounting I&II, OnRamps Stats, will take Calc BC and Econ senior year

McCombs is my main goal, with Texas A&M Mays also on my list.

Just looking for people's honest thoughts on my profile at this point. How does it look for someone aiming for McCombs? Anything stand out, good or bad? Would appreciate any perspectives, especially from current students or people familiar with UT admissions.

Finance Career Advice

Hey everyone,

I'm entering my junior year of high school and planning on majoring in finance at either UT McCombs or TAMU Mays.

My ideal job out of college would pay relatively well and have good work-life balance (ruling out IB). I want work that is actually interesting and not just repetitive monthly tasks, which probably rules out traditional accounting and entry-level FP&A.

I've been reading up on strategic finance and corporate development, and both sound like exactly what I want. However, it seems like CorpDev almost always requires 2 years of investment banking first, which I really want to avoid.

Since UT and TAMU are both top business schools with huge alumni networks in Texas, I wanted to get some realistic advice:

  1. Is direct-hire undergrad recruiting for CorpDev/StratFin actually a thing? Do Fortune 500s or tech companies hire undergrad analysts into these teams at McCombs or Mays, or are the slots too rare to rely on?
  2. If direct hire is unlikely, what's the best non-IB path? Would starting in a corporate FLDP (and trying to rotate into CorpDev) work? How well does management consulting or Big 4 Transaction Advisory (TAS/FDD) exit into CorpDev if I want to skip the 80-hour IB weeks?

Appreciate any advice from people who went to these schools or work in the field.

Where to get a decent datejust rep for under $100

Where can I get a decent datejust rep for under $100? Doesn't have to be perfect, just something that isn't obviously fake. Are there any on dhgate or would I have to message a private seller?

Lightsaber recommendation

Hello, I am interested in getting a lightsaber mostly for decoration but maybe something i can play around with, no actual fighting or anything just like swinging it around. I like the look of the luke skywalker lightsaber and my budget is around $150. Any suggestion?
