2008 Saturn Aura XE wont reverse sometimes
My 2008 Saturn Aura XE (milage 130,600 and some change) has NEVER had the transmission fluid flushed and replaced. I just recently had that done, however. When pulling into the mechanics shop for it, I put it in reverse and it wouldnt go. Switched gears, put it BACK in reverse and that seems to fix the issue temporarily.
When my mechanic flushed the transmission fluid, he noticed it was slightly burnt and had a TINY but of glitter. Happened to him too when he was backing it up as well.
Happened to me again this past saturday, and im a little worried about it. On sunday I slowly shifted the gears to try to work more fluid into them, hoping thatll fix the issue (fingers crossed.)
The mechanic said he notices ZERO slipping, and it just does it from time to time and encourages me to keep driving it, but also offered to drain more transmission fluid and replace it to see if that will also work. I personally think it could just be the shift linkage OR the gear bushing.
I understand that replacing a transmission will cost more than fixing, so advice?
