So, I was out and about today and got myself a pair of Vans sneakers on summer sale. I remembered that on the Luosjiet page it mentioned Vans as sizing reference and wanted to make a comparison to help others that are trying to figure out sizing in the Indiana Moc toe.

For reference I am a Brannock 9.5E both heel to toe and heel to ball (26.7-26.9cm) with a high instep and high volume foot overall and wear medium Stance socks. I chose 42D (my mistake) in the Indiana and I needed to seriously stretch the boot to fit my width and instep. After a while it worked out just fine and will wear the heck out of them. Length as seen in the photos is on the verge of failure with a toe gap of almost 0.7cm but nothing is touching top or front. I will get my next pair in 42.5E without a doubt and it will be great.

The Vans Old Skool pair is a size 42.5 and fits like a glove (I marked were my ball is on the 42.5 vans with a red circle). I tried the 42 and my toes were almost touching the front and my ball was very very snug exactly like my Luosjiet Indiana 42D. Size 43 Vans was too long and too wide. I took out the 42.5 Vans insole and compared it with the Luosjiet 42 and saw that they have almost 0.5cm difference. Vans is about 28cm and Luosjiet is about 27.6cm. That would make the Luosjiet 42.5 insole at 28.1cm which will be perfect for me.

So my advice is that if you are an E width and very close to your Brannock length, get your Brannock size and width, do not size down by half size. Use their Sizing guide page illustration on the website for Brannock to Luosjiet conversion. For reference Brannock 9.5 is Luosjiet 42.5 (which I should have chosen on the first place like the Luosjiet customer service people suggested).

Hope this post will help others to make the final decision on getting what is to my opinion the best VFM GYW boots on the net today.

I am planning on getting a new pair of Luosjiet boots, this time Commander to get a more "casual" option. I have the Indy boot in size 42D and after some time breaking them in and stretching, I am very happy even though I should have gone for E width in that Luosjiet style.

So how should I size for the Commander? (definitely E width...)

I have added a photo of the toe space in the Indy boot and a photo in the Luosjiet size 42 insoles (cause in my delusion I thought they could be too wide...), no touching top or side and no toe squishing but very tight in the instep thus the stretching need.

Reviews note that the 42 indy is 27.8cm insole, the 42.5 is 28.3cm and the 43 is 28,8cm length.

In 42 I have 0.8cm toe gap in medium socks and 1cm in thin socks and I like my lace gap half the size I got now (if they were E width maybe they would be half the gap).

The 42.5 will give me 1.3cm/0.51'' toe space and 43 will give me 1.8cm/0.7'' toe space.

For reference I am a 9.5E Brannock or 27cm length 10.8cm width with medium socks and I have high volume feet.

I made a post about my great positive experience/mistakes with the Luosjiet Indy boot and am looking to fine tune the sizing selection based on the pair I have now. I had selected the 42D which turned out to be narrow on the ball and very close to failure in the length but with a bit of stretching I am enjoying the heck out of them but only with thin socks. ( For history these are my measurements below with thin socks):

(for reference I am 1.75 height/80kg).

I used the online Red Wing scanner with medium thick socks that is my preference and had the included results (I used it also with thin socks and was VERY close to my Brannock above). Everything is leading me to select a 9.5E / 42.5E for my second pair. (ps. I don't know why it suggested a D width for the Blacksmith, is it a wider last?)

Color wise I am looking on the Wine teacore leather and was wondering if anyone has the Red Brick Leather AND the Teacore Leather (no need to be the same model) to see how similar or apart they are in color as I don't want them to look like the same boot (I will go for Black if they do).

I have had the joy of owning these boots for about a month and half so I am making a size update to help others.

Here are my most detailed measurements:

Brannock 9.5E

26.7cm foot length - 10.51''

10.5cm width at ball joint - 4.13''

25cm ball circumference - 9.84''

25.5cm  instep circumference - 10.03''

26cm ankle circumference above joint - 10.23''

The boots were tight on the instep from the start as I have high volume feet and underestimated the room it would have, length was and still is ok but would like some more ''wiggle'' space in front even though there is no contact unless i go downhill. Toes are not ''squished'' and there is no pinky rubbing on either side and as can seen on the second photo there is toe separation and nothing touches the ''walls" of the boot nor the ceiling on the big toe. I can wear them all day with normal dress socks but I had to place stretching trees to increase the width by half a size and the instep volume for about a week to increase volume which turned out great. The lacing gap has decreased but there is still enough space and no touching on top.

I would advise future buyers to use the size chart in Luosjiet sizing guide page that I have used as a 3rd image after they know their Brannock size and width.

I will buy a new pair of Indy boots and the only thing I need to decide is to go for 42.5D that is my Brannock? or go with the same length but increase width at 42E? (Increasing both at 42.5E will probably be too wide?).

As it stands the Indy in 42 has 1.3cm/0.5inch toe space in front (26.7 feet + 1.3 =28cm internal footbed). If I get them in 42.5 it will be 28.5 and the space in front will be 1.8cm/0.75inch. I believe the boots profile on the toes as it ''slopes'' down after the stiches gives an illusion that the boots have space in front when in reality if you get past the stitching your big toe will feel the top touching. So following my own advice I will most likely go for a 42.5 as my second pair of boots and go with either D or E.

Another advise is to AVOID using Saphir Renovateur on this color as it has Mink oil in it making them significantly darker, including the welt. I used some plain water gentle cleaning to remove most of it as soon as possible and it worked. Only beeswax conditioner on these or they will turn dark brown.

Having now a pair of Indy boots I can say that the last is great for me both in looks and in comfort. I like them with jeans and Chinos and with a little shine can pull it off with a navy suit but without a tie. Maybe in black I could...

So I had a convo that made me try some lacing styles with my fav tan laces on the Red Bricks as this combo looks great to my eyes. I am a bit on the vintage side age wise so I always laced my shoes that were casual like on the right and dress shoes like on the left. For some reason I kinda like the look of the left parallel laces on the Indy. Opinions are welcome, just thought I share the option.

ps. I am waiting for some tan and dark brown flat waxed laces to arrive for testing, they were harder to find than the round cotton options.

So I am trying some lace options for my red bricks and would like some opinions.

The one is a tan color that perfectly matches the welt color and the other is a dark brown,tan,red tan colors that match the boot leather, piping and welt that is a thicker hicking lace.

So I got the idea from a member here that showed off his red bricks with cream/white laces (and a cat...) so I went looking for some laces that better match the welt. Imo they look like they could be shipped out of the Luosjiet factory like that! I really like it up close, they give a more casual/rugged feel to them.

The break in is still on going as the hot weather in Greece is pissing me off as I want to enjoy these more! The Saphir Reno has allowed them to get much softer and the mink oil in it didn't make them darker (maybe the welt a hint). I am planning for a second pair after the summer in Full Grain black, really liking the style and look of these.

Been wearing these beauties (Brick Red) 2 weeks now and they are becoming the most comfortable boots to date. Sizing of 42D is spot on for my Brannock 9.5E feet with some hard break in needed as leather is thick. Could get them in 42E or 42.5D for immediate comfort (especially instep) but laces would touch on top of quarters as with thin socks they get very close now. Length wise my toes are exactly were the stitches start on the inside perimeter, no touching top or front and can stretch toes sideways without touching left or right. I am planning for a 2nd pair of indiana boots in black and a pair of service cap toes for daughter. VFM

First week of wear, they are getting really comfortable.

So these beauties just arrived today and first impression was WOW! Second impression was that they look like very quality products and they feel like it. I can honestly say that I feel like I stole them! I ordered them without speed hooks cause I am not a fan and imo they look cleaner. I asked on the chat for them, paid 10% on the Paypal link they gave me and ordered them with a pair of insoles and a 50$ Reddit coupon that I got when I joined. I got the boots in exactly 20 days to Greece. Everything was flawless in the process.

The fit was my biggest concern as I am not a fan of buying shoes that I cant wear, and all the thanks to everyone that helped me out during my questions in this forum.

The fit is perfect, they are snug and I expect them to conform to my foot over the break in period. As I first wore them I thought that I could do with the 42E for an easier breakin but I saw users say that it stretches some so will return on the width after a while. My toes wiggle easy and they land between the 2 stitches on the front. I have about 1.5cm of space and I almost always wear medium thickness Infiknit Stance socks.

My next project is to strip the color of a brown belt I have and use some Saphir renovatrice mahogany to match the shoes!

Daughter loved them and has chosen a pair of black commander cap toe size 39 for a future gift... so I am already planning my second pair to go with it.

edit1. 2 days in and after some conditioning with Saphir Renovatour they are getting softer and conform to my feet better. Getting comfy with thick socks, slight heel slip with thin socks, footbed starts to take shape of feet. The leather has taken a very slight darkening and brought out a deeper red in them that looks gorgeous with the shine. I changed the laces with some round dark brown 180mm 3mm movi's and they look great (stock were 160mm flat). Will post pics soon.
