I received these boots about a month ago and have been wearing them regularly ever since. They are breaking in nicely and starting to form to my feet. I normally wear a 12E in most boots, and LJ told me to size up to 12.5E. I could probably have done with the 12E, and I wear a thin insert in these. The Munson last is very accommodating.

I have been into boots for close to ten years now, starting with the Iron Ranger and working my way up to higher end brands, some costing north of $1000. LJ punches well above their weight in my opinion, in terms of construction. I am hoping to get another pair with the yak leather eventually.

I dyed these boots from brown to black as I did not realize when buying that you could customize the makeup. I've dyed boots before without issue so I never really thought twice about it.

I've included some pics from when I first received them, as well as a couple from today.

My normal Luosjiet size is 8D (EU 41.5D). In GS I'm a 9D. In Muson last I size up, half a size to 8.5D (EU 42D). I got the sizing guide from Ryan of YouShoe. I customized it using Black Xizang yak leather. I just put a black leather lace to match it.

I’m looking for some advice from people who have experience with LuosJiet boots and their different lasts.

I recently bought my first pair of Indiana Boots in size 43, width E.

Originally, LuosJiet recommended 43.5 for my measurements, but after watching several YouTube reviews (many people suggested sizing down), I decided to order 43E instead.

I’ve had them for less than a week and have worn them for around 5–7 hours total.

My current experience

• The boots feel quite snug.
• The main pressure points are my little toe and the side of my big toe.
• I usually wear fairly thick merino wool socks, because with thinner socks the upper leather still rubs too much while it’s breaking in.
• I can wear them for a few hours without significant pain, but I’ve already developed a small callus under my little toe from the pressure.

The good news is that my toes are not hitting the front of the boot when I walk, and I can still move them slightly inside the boot.

This is actually the first pair of boots I’ve intentionally bought on the snug side.

Previously, I almost always bought boots that were slightly too large because I was afraid of getting a pair that was too small. Those boots usually moved around too much and ended up rubbing my little toe because of heel slip rather than pressure.

Now I’m wondering whether these Indianas are:

• simply a proper snug fit that will become excellent after break-in,
• or actually about half a size too small.

My foot measurements

• Length: 27.3 cm
• Width: 10.6 cm
• Ball girth: 25.5 cm
• Instep girth: 26.5 cm

For comparison:

• Grant Stone Edward Boot – US 9.5 EE → probably my best-fitting pair.
• Jim Green African Ranger/Trooper – EU 44 → feels about half a size too large.

Originally I planned to order:

• Logger – 43.5E
• Great Escape – either 43.5 or 44

However, after experiencing the Indiana in 43E, I’m no longer sure.

If the Indiana eventually stretches enough and becomes a perfect fit, then 43.5 for the other lasts probably makes sense.

But if the Indiana is actually too small, maybe I should jump all the way to 44 instead of only going up half a size.

Since returns from Europe are expensive and time-consuming, I’d really appreciate hearing from people who own several Luigi models.

Based on my measurements and current experience with the Indiana, would you recommend 43.5 or 44 for the Logger and the Great Escape?

2 months in with these boots. Really love the dark brown shade of this pair. The embossed pattern isn’t too bold or strong in person. It’s usually compared to “scotch grain” leather but this is more subtle. It looks more like “regina calfskin” from Alden.

Despite the embossed texture, I actually find this leather dressier than the brown pull-up. I think that’s largely because of the rich dark brown color and the leather’s finer feel. It’s noticeably thinner and lighter on foot, giving it more of a dress shoe character than a rugged work boot leather, but the leather feels substantial enough to take a beating as well.

Will use it more to see how the patina develops.

So, I was out and about today and got myself a pair of Vans sneakers on summer sale. I remembered that on the Luosjiet page it mentioned Vans as sizing reference and wanted to make a comparison to help others that are trying to figure out sizing in the Indiana Moc toe.

For reference I am a Brannock 9.5E both heel to toe and heel to ball (26.7-26.9cm) with a high instep and high volume foot overall and wear medium Stance socks. I chose 42D (my mistake) in the Indiana and I needed to seriously stretch the boot to fit my width and instep. After a while it worked out just fine and will wear the heck out of them. Length as seen in the photos is on the verge of failure with a toe gap of almost 0.7cm but nothing is touching top or front. I will get my next pair in 42.5E without a doubt and it will be great.

The Vans Old Skool pair is a size 42.5 and fits like a glove (I marked were my ball is on the 42.5 vans with a red circle). I tried the 42 and my toes were almost touching the front and my ball was very very snug exactly like my Luosjiet Indiana 42D. Size 43 Vans was too long and too wide. I took out the 42.5 Vans insole and compared it with the Luosjiet 42 and saw that they have almost 0.5cm difference. Vans is about 28cm and Luosjiet is about 27.6cm. That would make the Luosjiet 42.5 insole at 28.1cm which will be perfect for me.

So my advice is that if you are an E width and very close to your Brannock length, get your Brannock size and width, do not size down by half size. Use their Sizing guide page illustration on the website for Brannock to Luosjiet conversion. For reference Brannock 9.5 is Luosjiet 42.5 (which I should have chosen on the first place like the Luosjiet customer service people suggested).

Hope this post will help others to make the final decision on getting what is to my opinion the best VFM GYW boots on the net today.

Got myself a new pair of Indiana Moctoes in brown pull up leather. Took some photos as I went out for some coffee. Comfortable out of the bat, leather is forming to the shape of my foot pretty well. Grain break looks good and natural and no qc issues for this pair. I’m planning to make a in depth review of this pair comparing it to the dark brown lychee version which I have as well. Both feel different and act different. This one’s significantly thicker and dense.

1 month in, they're fully broken in and super comfortable. They've patinad a little bit, but I kinda reset it when I conditioned them last week with Saphir Médaille d'Or 1925 Crème Pommadier Neutral (Colorless), due to walking in the rain for several days. ​They initially darkened but have since returned to its original color. However, there seems to be a slight satin shine that might be permanent; time will tell.

I also took them on a few hikes, one of which was over 4hrs. I gotta admit, it was comfy all the way through, the traction worked great on dirt, rocks, and mud. ​My feet stayed dry in the rain and from the splashes of my kids playing in the lake. ​

Yesterday, I replaced the factory laces with these sand color leather laces, making it more casual.

The only minor quip is there's not much arch support, but that's cause these are E width, and my duck feet is narrow in the heel and waist, but extra wide in the forefoot. I'm a brannock 7.5EE. I added arch supporting half-insoles, and that helps greatly.

I'll keep posting month by month, and I'll probably not condition these anymore until at least 6 months after.
