Curious what Examiner Training Looks Like for Mirror Checks
Hello according to the DVSA myths you don't have to exaggerate your mirror checks. I passed my test last week but a couple weeks ago my driving instructor had his standards check and failed. He failed because apparently I did not check my mirrors adequately during the MSM routine and appropriate times. The main feedback was regarding the centre mirror.
For context my driving instructor is sat next to me. Examiner in the backseat as it's a, standards check.
I really struggled to understand how. I don't exaggerate my head movements and never have. I look with my eyes and turn my head where appropriate.
Now the centre mirror is eye level with me. I don't have to flick my head up to see it. I also was doing my usual running commentary where I mentioned what cars were doing around and behind me.
According to the examiner conducting the standards check "You might as well of taken that mirror off and put it in the glove box for all the use it was"
I guess I was stunned because I've never been pulled up on my actual driving tests (I had a couple failed attempts prior to passing last week)
So I guess I'm curious as I was just watching a video about mirror checks.
What are examiners trained to do and see when it comes to mirror checks? They say they're specifically trained... If it's not exaggerated movements and stuff... What are they looking for?
