Will Technical Support Engineer role hurt future SDE switches?
I currently have 2 offers:
BNP Paribas – Software Developer CTC: 13 LPA fixed
Salesforce – Technical Support Engineer CTC: 19.25 LPA (17.5 fixed)
My main concern is regarding long-term career growth and switching later.
If I join Salesforce in a Technical Support Engineer role, and after 1-2 years I want to switch to SDE/backend/full-stack roles, will companies heavily consider my previous designation/role during hiring?
Do companies also verify the exact role/designation you worked in during background verification, or do they mostly just verify employment duration and company name?
Or does experience + DSA/projects/system design matter more while switching?
I’m confused between:
Taking the higher package at Salesforce but in support domainvs
Taking a pure developer role at BNP with lower pay
Would really appreciate advice from people who have faced similar situations or switched from support → development roles.
