[UPD] My vote today is a protest vote.
//trigger warning//
I used to be part of NDMOs in UP. I stayed because I genuinely believed in its principles. That student leadership should stand with the marginalized, with the victims, challenge abusive systems, and remain accountable to the people it claims to represent.
But over time, I became disillusioned.
Conversations around SH cases and abuse were mishandled behind closed doors. I saw how survivors and people raising these incidents were sometimes treated as “disruptions” to the wider movement instead of people who deserved clarity, protection, and accountability.
That was the moment I started asking myself: kung totoong naniniwala tayo sa transparency at justice, bakit takot na takot tayong ipaalam ang katotohanan?
Yung hostility toward people outside their circles.
I know walang perpektong political party sa UP.
This is not me rejecting activism or collective action.
But a refusal to normalize hypocrisy, silence, and political cultures that hurt the very people they claim to fight for. That's why my vote today is a protest vote.
