Roaches from my roommate from hell
I'm (21F) pretty sure this question hasn't been directly asked or anything. But I'm dealing with the roommate from hell. And he's causing cockroaches. Thankfully I've only got 2 more months in this lease.
He's so awful he would spill his coffee all over the entire counter and ON MY POTS AND PANS. he's "claimed" the only counter in the kitchen as his own, despite the fact that there are 4 other people in this house. I got so frustrated with everything that finally about 3 months ago I took everything from the living room. MY Couch, MY table, MY counter, MY shelves, MY Pots and pans and moved them into my room. So my room is very crowded but alas. I don't have a bunch of men making them gross. Plus evil roommate "hates noise" despite yelling on his video games until 2 in the morning. (We live on the opposite ends of a VERY long apartment)
Anyways. Things have been mostly peaceful for me since I did that, but it made living incredibly inconvenient for everyone else because well, they were using my counter, my couch, and my things, but nobody ever wanted to split paying for everything so they are mine.
And also since I've left the kitchen has gotten incredibly filthy. Which. I'm trying my best to not fucking clean because I DONT EVEN GO IN THERE. Except for my occasional frozen item in the freezer. But it's filthy. It's disgusting. I grew up in a hoarder house and, this is just not what I wanted for my adult life.
The roaches are everywhere. Tried to call an exterminator but, they said something about how I have to request it through some paper somewhere in the abyss idk. Anyways. I'm leaving for a week. For the first time since I've moved everything into my room one of the roaches have gotten in.
How do I make sure they don't get into my room while I'm gone. I'm sure they won't find much appealing if I make sure everything's clean and thrown away and stuff before I leave but. I'm so paranoid I'm about to come back to a bigger infestation then we already have. I leave early in the morning I don't have time to buy traps. I saw someone say to tape up drains and I think I will for my bathroom at least.
Thanks for your advice. And pray I'm able to get outta this place asap ugh.
TLDR: Bad roommate is unclean and cockroaches have infested a kitchen space which I have moved all of my things out of and into my room. Wants to make sure no roaches get into my room while I'm out of town for the week.
