How do I break into finance as someone with no internships, experience, and limited skills?
Hi everyone.
I am graduating with an MSc in Financial Economics from the University of Glasgow in September and I really want to pursue a career in corporate finance. My undergrad was in Modern History and Economics from the University of Manchester, and I wasn't really sure what to do with my future until a few weeks ago when I took my Corporate Finance exam and realised I quite enjoyed the challenge of it. Full disclosure, most of my degrees have been quite econ-based, and I don't have any work/internship experience related to Finance (the only internship I've done was a Qualitative Data Internship at a bank back home in Pakistan). I'm wondering how do I make a pivot into the London financial market. What skills would you recommend I should develop? What approach should I take? Should I consider doing another Master's but in a field more associated with finance? I'm quite confused and any clarity would help.
Thank you so much!
