I have seen some videos and posts on why the Catholic church views Freemasons as their biggest threat and they don't make any sense. I did make a video on this if it is of interest to anyone, but for those that don't want to watch it (me riding around like an idiot on my motorbike talking about it), I will put my views here on this thread.

I would first like to say that I don't claim to have the answer, I am just trying to understand why they make these claims.

1. Because Freemasons operate in secret they must be doing evil!

This makes no sense, ever since the creation of the premier grand lodge of England and earlier in Scotland. The answer that we are not a secret society but a society with secrets doesn’t really cut it either. The Vatican knows our rituals, they have been published for years. Duncan's Ritual And Monitor Of Freemasonry has the ritual for all to read. Anyone can pick it up and see what is in the ritual. 

2. Because we accept people of all religions.

 

Yet, we do, because we are not a religion. We are a mystic school, that has nothing to do with religion. So why is the Catholic church upset with a mystic school that teaches good morals and ethics, a fraternity that doesn’t discriminate against one's religion and preaches Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth.

3. Because our obligation is so violent.

Yep, I am glad they agree, it is violent and horrific. But the obligation was never something that a mason inflicted upon another mason. It was a warning, that if you tell the world you are a mason, if you are caught preaching what we preach to others, the ruling church and government may inflict these things upon you. 

It was a warning, just look at what the church has done to people in the past, the "Interrogation" techniques they used to get a confession from someone. Boiling feet, setting them on fire and all sorts of horrendous acts. But they call it too violent because we are warning a brother that if the church finds out they may do this to you?

4. Because we refer to God as the GAOTU. We also refer to God as the Most High, The same name Jesus referred to his father. So what is the problem with that.

 

The more they use it as an excuse to hate Freemasons, the less sense it makes. These are just my thoughts, I am interested in hearing what everyone else thinks. Am I right, wrong, way off track?
