I've seen a lot of people use the old grey armour the Wolves had before we got the current blue a lot. I've always headcanoned that this was due to the Wolves preference to keep old armour that they used rather than constantly update, which is obviously what lead to our really nice mixed mark armours. It gave me the idea of having different parts of the armour painted in the two different colours though, ie. mostly blue but one shin guard is still the old grey, or only the gauntlets are blue because he keeps catching incoming blades on them.

Any thoughts on this?
