2020 failed transmission

2020 failed transmission

My uncle warned me about CVT transmissions, but since I knew I was buying a Toyota I thought it would last me up to 300k miles like every other model. I’m the 2nd owner of my 2020 Toyota CHR LE and when I bought it from a reputable dealer aka Lithia Nissan, it had 119,XXX miles on it. I’ve only had it about a year and put 11,000 miles on it. Well, I ran over a pothole at night just off this freeway exit ramp and now my car is toast. I started hearing a grinding, rumbling deep roar from the driver’s front side of the engine. And it would make a tinkering noise at acceleration, but the noise and feeling would go away after hitting 20 miles per hour. I thought it might be the alignment.. so I got an alignment and two new tires = ~$400. That wasn’t it, didn’t fix the problem. So I made a claim with my insurance company. And it took me three opinions and inspections to get a diagnosis and I found out it was the motor mounts that broke causing the engine wiring harness to snap through the Toyota dealership’s inspection. I got the harness fixed under “comprehensive” coverage through my insurance = $1000 deductible and insurance covered ~$2600, and then took the car to get the motor mounts fixed with my private mechanic = $600. The CHR still made an awful noise when accelerating after getting all that fixed. So I took it back to Toyota and my insurance wouldn’t cover the diagnostic fee so I paid $200 out of pocket for them to hit me with a ~$13k R.I.M. estimate to replacement the transmission. Then, Toyota tells me that they won’t cover the transmission because I took it to a private mechanic to get the motor mounts fixed. I originally paid ~17k for this car and it was all the money I had. I’m SOL. I’ve called Toyota Customer Engagement because my insurance won’t cover it because it’s due to “wear and tear.” And of course Toyota doesn’t care. My car had zero issues before hitting the pothole. I’ve been told by friends and family to file a claim with CalTrans for the pothole damage. And now I’ve been doing all this research and finding out how bad we Toyota CHR owners actually have it. With this research, I found a website where we can submit the issues that are happening and causing premature failure to the transmission and try to get this issue recalled. Idk what else to do. Canada is taking accountability, so why not the U.S.? Do better, Toyota.
