Hey redditors! Military family of 2, no kids, 2 dogs, rented while living in San Antonio for 15 months. Itemized deductions came back, and my former landlord is deducting $950 for paint and labor which I think is astonishing. He agreed to only deduct $300 but I still find $600 for paint wild when we treated that home as if it were our home.
He claimed “simply to allocate the actual costs associated with conditions beyond ordinary wear while absorbing the portion reasonably attributable to normal use.” is that even legal?
We openly admit for scuff markings, but those are easy fixes with touch up paint.
Would you guys find these photos as damages or normal wear and tear? Am I responsible for conditions beyond ordinary?

*I told my husband to let’s touch up the paint but my husband was willing to bite the cost bc we had a tough time with movers but didn’t realize it would cost this much vs buying a can of Agreeable Gray

Texas tenant: Normal wear and tear or damage?

We for sure disputed the Home Depot receipt. That was wild too that we paid for cleaning supplies when he paid someone to clean. We left the toilet seat how we received it.
