Mechanic Changed my Spark Plugs and Ruined my Engine
so recently my car (2018 mini cooper countryman) started misfiring and had a really bad star up to the point i couldn’t drive my car and she even went into limp mode, we took it to a friend whose a mechanic they changed the spark plugs and coil packs, i think is what they’re called.
Took the car home for about a week and she ran good until one day she started misfiring again and driving really rough. So we took her back to an auto shop where they tried to find the cause of the problem she stayed there for about a week where they ran compression tests and all that stuff i don’t really know, my bf was the one getting all the info.
They end up telling us that the spark plugs we had just got changed were completely black, almost like we never changed them at all, so they went ahead and put in new ones. Well like i said the car stayed in the shop for about a week they could not figure out what was the main cause of the issue and what was truly going on with my car.
So ultimately we end up taking her to our local european car shop where he tells us this morning that one of the spark plugs they changed completely shattered, i think it’s called cross-threading, and ended up in the engine, basically ruining the engine entirely, we’d have to get a whole new engine and repair costs would be 8,000 dollars in total. seeing as the car isn’t even paid off i clearly don’t have the money for that.
I’m trying to see how anyone would go about this situation and what they would do. Looking it up it said small claims court or even going after the shops liability insurance. Pls help !!
