Federal background investigator help?
My boyfriend has been working as a corrections deputy at a county jail (sheriff’s office) for the past 2 years and wants to apply for a federal Bureau of Prisons position. He knows the federal background investigation is extremely thorough, and he wants to make sure he provides completely accurate information on the SF-86 and to the investigator.
The issue is that when he was younger he job-hopped quite a bit and moved around a lot. He doesn’t remember every single job he’s had, the exact dates, or all the addresses and move-in/move-out dates from years ago. He was also fired from some jobs when younger nothing major just found a new job and never gave other ones a notice so they fired him.
Is it possible (and would it even help) to hire a private background check company or investigator ahead of time to dig up that information for him? That way he can go into the federal process with everything accurate and avoid any problems.
Has anyone here been in a similar situation or know how background investigators usually handle gaps or incomplete recall from years ago?
