Mildly disappointed with wasted summer.

Okay so after listening to the single as it just came out, I have a few critiques. Firstly, I think the vocals are all far too polished, and it loses the some of the emotion, and in the performance too.

(this is all compared to this old live performance which I saw when it came out https://youtu.be/nvLgotbbG5k?si=StTG1J3AlbrAKrew )

I also think the instrumental didn’t need that maj7 arpeggio thingy, other than that, I think the rest of the extended instrumental sounds pretty cool.

As well, there’s just something about the guitar tones and production style that I can tell was a stylistic choice, mostly in the louder sections, and it feels like it’s just having the life choked out of it, and I think this song would breathe better with a production style something more like scum, or atleast more in that area.

Honestly though I do love the song as im inclined too, these are just my stoned thoughts. I’m a massive fan of the extended catalog, down to the deep cuts, but as a musician myself those are my notes.

(P.S I know Wilbur sometimes reads these so hey will, my names Josh an I just wanna say thanks man, music changed my life and you’ve been my biggest inspiration since I started when I was 11. I now play with the Liverpool philharmonic and study music, and I hope to study music at university. I’ll soon be releasing my own music and on the off chance you see this, I just wanted you to know what it means to me.
