Transformed my Xbox 360 Arcade into a Launch Edition
Regarding the flair, this isn’t really a mod. All I did was swap the side grills, the DVD drive bezel and the hard drive case of that from an original launch Xbox 360. So it’s under misc. The controller is an actual launch edition controller, open box when I got it.
The console was manufactured on March 12, 2010, the serial numbers match because I didn’t change the shell. The console itself I got it used awhile back so the scuffs aren’t from me.
I know there’s going to be Xbox 360 purists out there who would be greatly upset that I did this, but these part swaps are 100% reversible and I still have the original eject button, bezel, and side grills and keep them around as spares.
In addition to the console looking like a launch edition, I’ve upgraded the HDD to a standard 500 GB which did not require any software to do that as I bought another HDD with the hard drive inside and performed a hard drive swap. The console has an internal memory unit of 512MB which cannot be turned off. Faceplate was replaced with a new one, I still have the original but the USB door broke on it.
This is my main daily driver Xbox 360 that I connect to Xbox Live with, and this is the appearance I picture each time I think of “Xbox 360.” I really wish Microsoft brought back those launch edition trims onto newer consoles starting in 2008/2009 as more of a relaunch, it would have made sense, but anyway, here’s my Arcade, looks just like a launch edition with HDMI, maybe in an alternate universe the 360 launch with an HDMI port and the 2009/2010 motherboard revisions of the phat systems were always the standard, but that didn’t happen in this universe.
Thoughts?
