PICO Space Pro spotted in Japan’s radio certification database — exterior and teardown photos included

Hey fellow VR enthusiasts!

I’m a VR user from Japan, and I found the PICO Space Pro listed in Japan’s official radio certification database.

The listings include exterior and teardown photos. The color is different from the previously leaked unit, but the overall shape looks the same.
The direct links to the individual certification pages aren’t working, so please find the listings through the search page instead:

https://www.tele.soumu.go.jp/giteki/SearchServlet?pageID=js01

  1. Find the certification number field at the top of the page, near the text “技術基準適合証明番号”.
  2. Enter one of the following numbers. Enter only the number—do not include the product name or the parentheses. Search for each product separately.

- 202-JWM032 (PICO Space Pro)
- 204-B01175 (PICO’s wireless keyboard)

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the green button labeled “検索”.
Please be careful: reposting the photos from PICO’s Japanese radio certification documents is prohibited.

I made a quick video showing how to find the listings. I’d share the photos directly if I could, but reposting them is prohibited. Sorry about that!

It looks like there’s a separate compute pack!

I could only spot one fan in the photos, and the only chips I could identify on the headset-side board were 2.4 GHz/Bluetooth wireless chips and microcontrollers. That seems promising for keeping the headset lightweight.

One thing I’m a little concerned about is the lenses. They look oval-shaped, similar to the Vision Pro’s, which makes me wonder about the vertical field of view (VFOV). I hope PICO isn’t taking inspiration from Apple’s narrower vertical FOV as well.

Unfortunately, there don’t seem to be any dedicated photos of the compute pack—just a small glimpse of it at the bottom of one of the RF test report photos. So we still don’t know which Snapdragon chip it uses.

If it supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, I think it could be a really compelling option for a lightweight 4K headset, especially for PCVR.

I’m looking forward to the announcement! What do you all think? Have you spotted any other interesting details in the photos?
