Moving to Ottawa and have no idea where to start with housing - looking for advice!
My husband is being relocated for work and his job will require him to be on Walkley Road in Ottawa. We are looking for a nice neighborhood for our family that is within a 20minute drive for him. Additionally, we have two children ages 3 and 5 and need to be in an area with good schools and daycares.
I’ve discovered that Ottawa is HUGE. Some of the rentals are very West, and traffic seems to be an issue with commuting into the city. One of the reasons we agreed to leave is to cut down on my husband’s commute, which was a disaster in the GTA (I’m sure some of you are familiar with the QEW lol).
Can anyone recommend a nice area? Financially, we have a good housing budget and are looking to rent. We are coming from Hamilton, Ontario, and if you’re familiar with the area, are looking for something a bit safer and nicer. Boring and residential is fine… we have young kids, so keeping them happy is our priority! I’ve read a few things about Stittsville but it seems too far from my husband’s work. What can we find that is closer and still upscale residential?
I looked into Barrhaven and Orleans, but can’t get much info beyond that. I have attached a map of where his office will be! I apologize if this post seems a bit uppity - we are coming from a rough area of Hamilton and want an overall upgrade and have the budget to afford it. I appreciate any insights and look forward to relocating to Ottawa!
