I’ve got a 1996 Yamaha 85CV, lower unit started to make a bit of noise so I dropped the oil. What came out was 99% water and then a few drops of oil on top at the end. Amazed it still functions well and not too much metal on the bolt. Topped it up, will run it for a few trips and then check it again.

Given that it’s full I figure it’s the seal at the shifter that’s the likely culprit.
