How do you develop a pokemons diet??

I've read in some fics now the idea of specialised diets, adding nutrients or foregoing pokechow all together for custom meals at certain points. But how do you deal with making those diets and outlier pokemon like rock types?

I've currently been plodding at the idea of a Toxicologist trainer as a concept with a Glimmet as a starter. But Glimmet doesnt have a mouth and absorbs minerals directly from cave systems. So what minerals and compounds would be its staple? Both Area Zero and Oni Mountain are too far from the coast for limestone would the pokemon need more carbon based compounds like say a Carbink would or Silicon like a Sableye eating gems? How would different mineral toxins affect Glimmets toxic crystals.

My mind is jumping about with rough High-school chemistry knowledge trying to logic a diet. How do other writers do this? How do you write pokemon diets?

Harry or a Hogwarts legacy oc asking the Keepers for animation spells off the books to send golems afer moldyshorts.

[Keepers Chamber: Map Room]

"So professors the golem creation is just complex transfiguration and intent wards, so whats the incantation for animation? I cant find any for the school ones or what remains of my ancestors notes"

Four portraits eyes looked at eachother then away, Professor Rookwood sighed almost shamefully.

"Peirtotem locomotor is the official Hogwarts invocation. Ancient magic for wixen like you and Professor Rackham don't need an incantation for animation, its already in the intent and the spirals of the construct, you just wake it. There is an animation spell, archaic, ridiculous and suitable for mass animation or war level armies. Useless in a duel and needs to be invoked in rhythm. Half song have poetry.. I.. I absolutely loathe it and regret in every way shape and form drunkenly creating it with that muggleborn in the Hogs Head the incantation is as such;

Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee."

Do you pick a theme or type specialisation for your main characters if so how?

I like the idea of a character that has a team that fits or compliments a story but keep going in circles on just the starter. So far I've pondered;

A characters type preference comes from their aura.

Using a hobby as refrence. I.E, a snowboarder having Ice types.

Environment they grew up/Local ecology. I.E. a maritime hometown for a water type trainer.

Utility, having a team designed for a homeowner or 'van life' I.E. Helioptile for solar recharging and Rolycoly for renewable coal.

Family legacy, such as a geologist grandparent or Ecologist parent could lead them to studying Archeology or Paleontology. (Side note; are Archeologists just the Arch mages of the Ecologist world?)

Connection or Nostalgia in the case of isekai or a refugee character, having a party that connects them to their former life, I.E. Ludicolo or Ukulele Pichu for a music connection. Or a Munchlax to share recipies and food with.

Egg groups. A character only having affinity for egg groups or even having a negative affinity so certain pokemon in an egg group I.E. Flying. Will attack them or refuse to be caught/trained by them outright.
