Hello, we're renovating one of our bedrooms at the moment, house built in the 50s, extension done in the 70s or 80s, the extension is the bit we are renovating
The ceiling had polystyrene tiles, which our survey identified needed to come down as they're a fire risk. Under the tiles is a textured paint coating. Before doing anything, we had a company come out to do lab testing on the textured coating, tiles, and the adhesive, which all came back negative for asbestos.
When removing this stuff, some of the plasterboard is a bit cracked and chipped away, and in the board itself seems like there's some fibrous material in a grid - is this anything to be concerned about?
I was scraping off some polystyrene tiles after removing a built in wardrobe, seems like they stuck them onto wallpaper. I wore a mask as it was quite messy anyway, but after I got a few off I thought maybe I should get it tested. Just waiting for a kit to arrive, but in the meantime, do you think this is very likely? This part of the house was an extension done in either late 70s or 80s, not sure when the tiles would have been added though.
