INTPs, how do you actually make friends/ connections?

I've been thinking about this lately and I'm curious how other INTPs experience it.

I'm not naturally someone who meets a lot of people, and I find it much easier to connect with someone when there's already something interesting to talk about rather than through typical small talk. I also struggle with maintaining long-term connections. It's not that I don't want to. I genuinely do, but somehow conversations eventually fade or I get caught up in my own world, even with people I really like talking to.

So I'm wondering.

How do you actually meet people you genuinely click with?

Do you usually make friends through shared interests, online communities, university/work, gaming, random conversations, or something else?

And once you meet someone interesting, do you actually make an effort to keep the connection going, or do you also have the classic INTP tendency to disappear into your own world for a while? 😭

I'm curious about both friendships and romantic relationships, but I'm especially interested in how you guys form genuine connections rather than just acquaintances.
