Another bionic part a week from now and another medical sub-reddit joined
First post here but wanted to say thanks to all who post here. It's been enlightening and has me prepared for the next phase of my years long recovery.
For background I'm 61 and was diagnosed with rectal cancer 3 1/2 years ago. I had APR surgery (they took out my rectum, anus, sphincter and sigmoid colon and sewed up the back end) and have a permanent ostomy bag as a result. Between the radiation therapy and the nerve damage from the surgery, junior stopped working entirely. Started doing injections which worked great until scar tissue developed from injecting so often, leaving me with an almost C shaped member when hard. Good news is I've been cancer free for almost three years and the ostomy bag has become a non-issue (and any danger of skid marks is completely eliminated.....:)
Chemotherapy causes major dental issues so six months ago I had full upper arch implants so now I have a bionic mouth, a bionic "waste disposal system" and next week will have a bionic little fella too.
Wife is more excited than I am, she keeps saying that she's gonna be the pump manager now that her role as injection nurse will be ending......
