A couple months ago user PikaJade posted a Kit mod. He plays a bit like Mario Sunshine on crack, with the ability to hover, dive, ground stomp, and bounce off walls. And he can even be paired up with Surge, allowing you to switch between the two of them. It's pretty fun and I was able to beat some levels that were intended for a Generations Sonic mod, so I think he's got some nice versatility to him.
