Dunk vs Injection to Rehydrate?

I have a cake in process that is quite full of pins and half developed fruits. Already did a selective harvest of the larger fruits that were "marshmallow soft" but the remainder seem to be stalled and the cake seems quite dry. In lieu of removing all of the current progress and dunking to rehydrate, I'm leaning towards injecting distilled water under the main clusters. Is this a fairly standard practice, or are there any risks I'm introducing by doing this??

I fahked up....

Pic for attention... Came back from a pool day and stupidly left a 4lb slab of bacon in the cooler overnight. Wasn't room temp by the time I caught it, but definitely close to it. Am I fahked or will the pink salt save my ass?? 9 day dry cure followed by 6 hour smoke at 150..... 🤞

First round of Squanch harvest!!!

Took quite a while for the first ripe set of these gnarly little multi mutant blobs, but I'm happy with them. Easily the most interesting strain I've done so far!!

SGFC >>>>> AIO !!!

Running exclusively modified tubs now, but I decided to use up the last of my AIO bags and goddamn! Arguably more surface area the 13qt bins I run and less contamination risk with mixing the grain and sub in a self contained bag. Quickly becoming a fan of this method.

First time running an exotic strain; this one is a Melmac revert. Transferred from a bag to a SGFC, and glad that I did; it's much easier to monitor and it looks like it's going to be using the extra room to grow. My main question on these is when/how to harvest with no traditional veil or stem? Do you just slice off from the blob at a certain point? Is ripeness indicated by feel or are there visual signs to look for??

I've been in the habit of sealing the lid and all but a few air ports immediately after mixing, with the intention of letting it establish with minimal outside risk; other than the initial transfer process. The general practice does seem to be moving straight to FAE, and I'm wondering if this creates a better environment for the mycelium to rapidly establish itself and outgrow and competing contamination. On the other hand, I see a ton of excellent results with unmodified tubs, so I'm still on the fence. This was transferred 02 April and was going great until a few days ago when I noticed some grey spots that progressed to the point where I had to check and it looked pretty much doomed.... I do see the logic in running multiple smaller tubs though, tossing a 66qt bin sucks.....

Ochras definitely make up in volume what they lack in weight. If only they weren't so goddamn eager to spore!
