I-485 Approved – what are the next steps now?

Hi everyone,

I just got my I-485 approved today. Does everyone get that letter?

Now I’m trying to understand what comes next and wanted to hear from people who recently went through this.

A few questions:

• How long did it take for your green card to arrive after approval?
• When did you receive your Social Security card (I requested one on the form)?
• Is there anything important I should do right away after approval?

Would really appreciate any advice or timelines thank you all, this community helped me a lot during the process 🙏

I-485 (Chicago FO) – Interview done, I-130 approved, RFE received May 4… anyone in the same stage?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to see if anyone is in a similar situation or recently went through this stage, the waiting is honestly the hardest part 😩 I can’t work, drive or fly because I don’t have EAD.

Here’s my timeline:
• Filed I-485 (marriage-based) – Jan 2026
• Biometrics – Feb 2026
• Interview scheduled – March 27, 2026
• Interview went well
• I-130 approved
• RFE issued (medical – just a missing checkmark)
• USCIS received my RFE response – May 4, 2026

Since then… no updates.
I know my RFE was very minor and everything else seems done, but I’m starting to feel anxious just waiting with no movement.

For those who had a similar situation:
How long did it take after USCIS received your RFE to get approved?

Would really appreciate hearing your experiences 🙏
