2008 Yamaha R6
Hey everyone! Recently picked up a 2008 Yamaha R6 with only 3,500 km (2,175 miles) and I could use some advice on what maintenance it might need due to its age.
I’m the third owner. The previous owner bought it about 4 years ago and only rode 600–800 km on it. I know the basic maintenance was done, like oil and tires, but I don’t know the history of things like fork oil/seals, bearings, suspension, etc., so I assume most of those are still original.
Besides the obvious fluids/maintenance, what should I replace or service because of age rather than mileage?
What would you replace preventively, what would you inspect, and what would you leave alone if it still looks/feels good?
I don’t want to replace things unnecessarily, but it’s still an 18-year-old bike despite the very low mileage.
Any advice from people familiar with these R6s is appreciated!
