Bicornuate uterus and weightlifting
Im currently 14w and very active pre-pregnancy. I enjoyed traditional weightlifting, calisthenics and kettlebells. I’ve maintained this with some weight reductions during my pregnancy.
I was in the pre-term birth clinic yesterday for my first appointment. I haven’t yet had my first transvaginal USS. The obstetrician advised me to stop weightlifting entirely from now onwards. This was a real blow to me as it’s been so helpful to me for many years. I was already planning to give all barbell lifting a miss, but I would rather not give up KBs and calisthenics unless absolutely necessary.
I’m curious to hear of anyone else who was weightlifting during pregnancy and has a bicornuate uterus. I’m fully aware that, if my cervix appears to be shortening, will give up everything, no questions asked. But I currently don’t know its length and won’t for 2 weeks, so would like to continue while I can (with modifications).
Also, have those with bicornuate uterus/cervical insufficiency sought advice from other professionals, e.g. pelvic floor physios?
