Week 7 and only can eat white carbs 🥐

Hi moms out there. I usually eat very healthy meals (wholefood plant based, high fiber).
Starting from 3 days ago, all food I am used to love e.g kale, quinoa, beans, cauliflower sort of makes me a little bit disgusted to think about, so I am eating instead plain pasta, avo toast, smashed yellow potato and chocolate 😅
Anyone else out there with the same experience?

Pregnant runners-belly band recommendations??

Any pregnant runners have some hacks on staying comfortable? I did my first run on the treadmill yesterday and when I started I felt like I had to pee instantly even though I just went. I engaged my pelvic floor for a little in the beginning and that helped until the sensation wasn’t there anymore. How do you avoid pelvic girdle pain? Also do bell bands really help during runs? If so what are the good brands? Thank you💓

Struggling with new limitations

First time being pregnant. (I’m about 23 weeks) I’m really grateful to be in the second trimester and feeling better because up until about week 16 I was in absolute hell. 24/7 nausea, some migraines and all kinds of little things. Now I finally feel better and actually have the space to feel excited about this baby and what life has in store. As someone who has ADHD and uses fitness as therapy, an outlet, health, peace of mind and self confidence I have really struggled with my body’s new limitations. I did not exercise AT ALL during the first trimester aside from the occasional walk because I was feeling so bad. Now I have slowly started going to the gym and did my first really light & easy treadmill run (more like a shuffle). And while that has me hopeful, I’m grappling with the reality that I just can’t do what I used to do, not even close. I feel so weak and I want to feel strong! Can I build muscle at this point in my pregnancy? And I know that what is most important is the health of me and my baby but I just wanted to see if any of you out there struggled feeling limited in your own body? What helped? I guess I’m looking for positive stories, words of encouragement, advice or anything. I don’t know anyone who is pregnant and am the only one of my friends who want kids so I’m feeling a little alone.

Cross back nursing bras?

I feel like this community would have recommendations for this though it’s postpartum! I wear primarily athletic attire/athleisure and pre-baby wore almost exclusively sports bras everyday. Now that I’m postpartum, it seems like all nursing bras are straight back straps which shows with all racerback shirts.

Does anyone have any recommendations for nursing bras that cross in the bar or are racerback style? Extra plus if good for working out as I get back into things or are made from natural fibers!!

Thanks in advance :)

Prenatal?

I am in the process of researching prenatals for my next pregnancy and would like to know what your favorites are? Bonus if it is just 1 pill a day but I know that can be difficult. No gummies please, its a personal preference.

Exercise after IVF transfer, but with a lot of anxiety..?

Hello,

After 4 years and 6 failed IVF cycles, I moved on to donor eggs. We unfortunately only got two euploid embryos. I transferred the first one at the beginning of the year, and while it worked, it turned out to be a blighted ovum.

I transferred the second one recently, and I am now 4w3d pregnant.

I have always exercised a lot, have been doing CrossFit for a very long time as an intermediate-RX athlete and just like for a lot of you, exercise keeps me sane.

It’s now almost 3 weeks that I have done zero exercise. They told me that I’m only allowed very very light exercise for the first trimester, but I can’t even bring myself to do that. I’m paralyzed by fear and afraid I’ll do something to jeopardize this pregnancy. But, I think about it it all the time.

My priority is this future potential baby’s health, but my mental health is also very important and I’m struggling with what to do.

Has anyone had similar fears? If you were on progesterone shots, did you exercise during your first trimester?

TIA

Recovery to fitness from c-section vs. Vaginal birth

Hi all, I’ve had some late stage complications including baby now being breech which means I’m now considering a c-section when I wasn’t before.

I’m interested in what recovery pathway to fitness has been like for you on these respective journeys, especially if you have experience of each!

In particular, do you feel any long term impact to your fitness or strength with one of these? How was your abdominal and pelvic floor recovery?

What was your mobility like in the weeks following birth?

Ultimately I’m going to discuss with my care team and do the best thing for baby. Maintaining a level of fitness is incredibly important to my mental health though and I do want to understand post-birth implications better from some more experienced mamas. My usual activities are long-distance running, strength training, and swimming.

Many thanks!

28 wks and SPD is making fitness impossible

24y/o FTM, 28 weeks and have considered myself an active person. I grew up a gymnast and now coach gymnastics for work. The past 2/3 weeks I’ve developed pretty severe SPD (pubic/groin pain) that makes any sort of mobility super painful and I don’t know how to keep myself active anymore. Any sort of walking/lifting my legs is very painful and I already can’t do most core exercises so I am pretty much limited to upper body. Work is becoming extremely difficult because I can no longer spot/demonstrate skills or move big equipment and even walking around the gym is very hard since all the floors are spring/mats. I’m just wondering if anyone has any exercise recommendations that can get my heart rate up and without exerting my legs/groin or anything that might relieve SPD pain. It seems like my daily stretches just make it worse and the only thing that helps is epsom salt baths.

Is ovulation delayed or not happening this cycle? Is it the deficit?

I’m 28 years old, 161cm , current weight 68 kgs (lost 3.5 kgs last month)
I’ve been married for 1.5 years and struggled with vaginismus, so I wasn’t able to have PIV sex until this month. I was incredibly happy to finally be able to TTC through intercourse. We tried at-home insemination during the previous three cycles, but unfortunately weren’t successful.
I’ve tracked ovulation with LH strips before and usually get a positive between CD16–19. I had one unusually long cycle where I didn’t get a positive until CD27, but that was an exception. This cycle, I’m currently on CD20 and still haven’t had a positive test.
I have PCOS and my cycles were irregular between ages 17–22, but they became regular after I lost weight and started exercising—sometimes consistently and sometimes on and off.
This month, I’ve been eating in a calorie deficit because I’m trying to lose 4–6 kg. I usually eat about 1,300–1,400 calories a day and follow a generally healthy diet (50-60 grams healthy fat, high protein, moderate to low carb-not less than 70g), although I sometimes eat above that on weekends. I strength train 3–4 times per week and do incline walking around four times per week.
I take a prenatal, vitamin D, and I also started taking myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol this month.
Did hormones blood tests back in February and all were normal.
Has anyone experienced delayed ovulation after starting a calorie deficit, increasing exercise, or starting inositol? Could these changes delay ovulation even though I’ve only been following this routine for about a month? Or is this most likely just a random longer PCOS cycle? Is it still possible to ovulate later this cycle?
What should I do I’m worried.. I was hopeful for this cycle.

Pre Pregnancy Advice

Hi everyone! Looking to get some advice on specific muscle groups to target before I start trying to get pregnant with my first baby!

For reference I am 27, a member at orange theory, usually go about 4 times a week and run outside on occasion! I have recently lost about 60 pounds. Currently sitting at 180ish at 5’3”, which I know is overweight so trying to lose some more fat in the meantime as well.

I know core is very important for pregnancy/birth/PP but that’s about it! TIA!

39 weeks

Did anyone continue working out at and past 39 weeks? The thought of lifting a weight or spinning (I just pedal) makes me even more tired

How flexible are you during pregnancy?

Currently 8 weeks pregnant, 3rd pregnancy.

I am no stranger to stretching, especially post strength training. Pancake splits have become my fav. I do however struggle with it in the last few weeks, some days being very stretchy, some I can't really move my pelvis much towards the floor: I get this stiffness around the pelvic area and so I interpret it as my body saying " well gal, not today"

Is this a different level of hormones? They do differ day to day. Or maybe any other ideas as to why I feel such a difference right now?

Just to add: pre pregnancy I would easily distinguish between flexibility pre, during and post period with period being my most flexible phase.

Gym / strength training programme for pregnant women

Currently 20 weeks pregnant with my second! Used to work out a lot before first trimester nausea hit and I haven’t strength trained since then.

Now I feel ready to go back to the gym, but I don’t want to risk doing wrong or hurtful exercises.

Can anyone recommend a 3 days full body programme for pregnant women? I don’t mind paying if it’s good, but of course free would be nice..!

So… what are you guys doing for your boobs when you run? 😅

I’m a distance runner (BQ’d 3x), so I’ve been trying to keep up with my running, albeit slower than I was. I’m six weeks today.

But dear god in heaven, my BOOBS.

When I run, they hurt so bad. And mind you, I’ve been a board member of the itty bitty titty committee my entire life (34B), so I’m not used to having larger chesticles, and mine already feel so swollen.

Do you guys have recommendations for more supportive sports bras? I’ve been faithful to lululemon forever and have been wearing their “like a cloud” bra.

Edit: I LOVE THIS COMMUNITY THANK YOU ALL FOR THE SUGGESTIONS FOR THE GIRLS ✨✨❤️✨✨

Overexertion and NTDs?

I’m in week 5 of my pregnancy and beginning to stress out over what can increase the likelihood of neural tube defects. In the same day, I went to a barre class where I got extremely sweaty (never got my heart rate above 128, though) and a concert where I got extremely sweaty while dancing. These are both things that I did frequently before getting pregnant. In neither case did I feel dizzy or nauseous, although my cheeks did briefly feel a little flushed. At the show, there was some pushing and shoving and stage diving (which I got out of the way of once I decided it was too much for me), but I’m not really worried about any physical risks to the embryo at this point, since I know it’s still protected by my body. What really is keeping me up is if feeling overheated—being drenched in sweat in a small, hot venue or barre studio, but otherwise feeling fine—is likely to have increased my core body temperature enough to increase the likelihood of neural tube defects. Thanks!

Bloody show and working out?

Hi all, FTM here 38 weeks today. I had my bloody show yesterday and it’s been shedding slowly since then. Should I avoid working out? I’ve been focusing on stretching and walking. Should I not weight lift? No contractions but starting to feel some light pelvic pressure and cramps.

For fellow runners: how quickly did running mileage decline in the third trimester?

I'm 32 weeks today and was able to hold 50 miles a week for 30 weeks. Last week I went down to 45 because running definitely felt much tougher overall. It could have something to do with the raging heat wave in the south east but it could also just be how pregnant I am. I figured it might make sense to continue to drop 5 miles a week until my due date but just curious how others have "tapered" for child birth.
