First Trimester, don't feel like working out, am I Lazy?

Like the title speaks for itself, I'm 6 weeks and 6 days pregnant, and I have been so sleepy and lethargic for the last 3 weeks. I'm a 6 day gym kind of person and absolutely cannot miss my gym for anything or anyone, but since the last 3 weeks I've just been a mess. I don't have any morning sickness or obvious fatigue, I'm fully capable of going to the gym, but somehow I just don't feel like it because I don't have the energy or motivation like before. Is this how it feels, and is this normal? I see amazing ladies in this group running, working out all through their pregnancy. Love for some advice or optional workout ideas.

I want to totally transform my body (10+ kilo weightloss plus body recomp) while breastfeeding. Can I do it in a year?

Hi! I'm a year pp and am starting a 1-year "transformation" journey on Monday. Postpartum has been really tough on my physical and mental health, and I'm excited to get back to feeling like "me." There's a wedding I have to attend at the end of this journey, which provides a good "goal" for me to work towards. The thing I'm struggling with most is the anxiety that my efforts will be for nought so long as I am still breastfeeding.

I plan to breastfeed for as long as my baby wants to (which could mean for the entirety of the next year and beyond, but he is on three meals a day, and my period is back). But I'm also capable of being extremely disciplined, so I want a bit of reassurance that breastfeeding will not hold my progress back so long as I "lock in."

Here's my plan:
Exercise per week
- 3x weight sessions
- 2x low intensity cardio (walking/running)
- 12 weeks out from the wedding, I intend to add in a weekly reformer pilates class

Food
Prioritising dense, low-calorie foods, but not being overly restrictive, especially in the beginning. Towards the end and before the wedding, I plan on cutting out inflammatory foods and lowering my salt intake.

I currently weigh 66 kilos at 168cm and am a UK size 10.
My goal is to get down to 55 kilos and go back to a UK size 6.

Is this possible?

Trying to conceive

So I am wondering what are my chances of getting pregnant. I use natural cycles app and I ovulated on the 13th day. We did the deed the the 11th and 12th day.
So now I’m wondering what are my chances of getting pregnant?
My husband did an at home sperm test and it showed a normal sperm count.
I have regular cycles and I’m 28, in good health.
What has everyone else’s experiences been if you were tracking your cycle and got pregnant? I hope this time is our time for pregnancy!

Only 18 weeks and coning?! Help!

As the title says, 18 weeks and my husband noted that I was coning when doing leg extensions - not a lot, but visible to him. I was only doing about half my usual weight.

Am I completely screwed?! I can't figure out if this means I need to stop weight lifting/do something else/start doing only pregnancy-specific routines. I haven't had coning in any other exercises.

I have a pelvic health physio appointment next week already so will definitely ask then but I'm a bit freaked out about what to do in the meantime.

39 & 4 Days

The carpel tunnel is so bad in both my hands, my feet barely fit in my sneakers, I waddle like a duck, and I’m so tired I could cry by 3pm at work but trying to stay active at least twice a week as I wait for baby girl to show up. A reminder it doesn’t have to be perfect to be good. Having an empathic trainer with a stellar sense of humor helps leaps and bounds too. 😅

Lower Back Pain Fixes in Third Trimester

Help! I’ve been having a tight back for the past two weeks but really put it over the edge this past weekend with lots of gardening. We have a very large garden and normally this is something I love doing and can spend all day on but the constantly getting up and down and lifting and carrying things all of a sudden made my back the past few days just get unbearable! I’m also at 29 weeks so maybe this is just normal for the start of the third trimester but I refuse to feel this way for the rest of pregnancy because there’s so much I want to get done! I consider myself a fairly active person (very active before pregnancy but I’ve struggled with low energy) and I still do an hour walk every day, swim or run every other day, and do core and stretching every morning mixed with light lifting throughout the week. Not being able to do things is unbearable for me so please help!!!

Postpartum nutrition plan recommendations

Hello,

I’m looking for recommendations for a qualified nutritionist/dietician/PT who could build a straightforward plan for postpartum fat loss.

I want someone who respects that even postpartum, I want to get back to my existing weight and into my previous clothes, and can help with a straightforward meal plan for someone in the newborn trenches.

UK based but ideally want online support so they can be based anywhere.

I understand my body will be different initially and that it will take time etc, but I personally want to work with someone who can help me with that sooner rather than later.

Thank you

Climbing During Pregnancy is Safer Than Previously Thought

How timely is this?

Margie Davenport released new research looking at nearly 700 pregnancies who climbed during pregnancy. 166,000 hours of climbing was logged and 133 falls reported. There were .03 adverse events per 1000 hours of climbing and all babies were born healthy. There was no significant difference in pregnancy outcomes between mothers who stopped climbing at 27 weeks vs mothers who continued to climb. Third trimester climbing does not increase complications. Climberes who continued in their 3rd trimester were 7x more likely to return to climbing within six months postpartum.

Can't wait for the skiing/snowboarding study results!

Chiropractor while pregnant?

I’m wondering if anyone has seen a chiropractor while pregnant?

I fully believe in chiropractors and think that they can be really beneficial. And I’ll mention I go to pelvic floor PT 2 days/week. I just went to a family chiro near me that has over 80 5 star reviews, nothing negative. I just got kind of a weird vibe but I’m not sure if I should give it another shot.

I feel like the adjustments were a little bit rough. She adjusted my upper back but then also did my lower back and the twisting she had me do felt intense. I’m not sure if I’m overreacting but I’m so nervous about something happening to my baby. Everything else she did felt relatively gentle.

Side note: when I walked in her second question regarding my pregnancy was a strange look of pity asking “planned or unplanned??” Not that it really matters but I’m 27 years old and also married. It just felt kinda weird. Otherwise she was really nice but I’m not sure if I’m just overreacting.

What do you all think? Should I go back? I do think maybe she could help me but I’m not sure.

Bicornuate uterus and weightlifting

Im currently 14w and very active pre-pregnancy. I enjoyed traditional weightlifting, calisthenics and kettlebells. I’ve maintained this with some weight reductions during my pregnancy.

I was in the pre-term birth clinic yesterday for my first appointment. I haven’t yet had my first transvaginal USS. The obstetrician advised me to stop weightlifting entirely from now onwards. This was a real blow to me as it’s been so helpful to me for many years. I was already planning to give all barbell lifting a miss, but I would rather not give up KBs and calisthenics unless absolutely necessary.

I’m curious to hear of anyone else who was weightlifting during pregnancy and has a bicornuate uterus. I’m fully aware that, if my cervix appears to be shortening, will give up everything, no questions asked. But I currently don’t know its length and won’t for 2 weeks, so would like to continue while I can (with modifications).

Also, have those with bicornuate uterus/cervical insufficiency sought advice from other professionals, e.g. pelvic floor physios?

When to stop Pilates..

35+3 I’ve been continuing to do reformer Pilates throughout my pregnancy (minus the first trimester.. barely made it out of that alive 😅) keeping in mind safe pregnancy modifications. Recently I’ve been having pretty bad mons pain and I’ve been reading that it can be related to improper movements. Wondering if lunges, squats, etc that I’m doing in pilates, regardless of if they are preg safe, are causing this? When would you tap out?

Nursing sports bras

Hi there! I’m looking for recommendations on a good sports bra that works for breastfeeding. I’m 5 weeks post c section with my second, and am looking forward to getting back into lower impact exercise within the next month. A bra that would be compatible for a C cup, breastfeeding mum, who plans on getting exercise by walking, doing spin, Pilates, and light weights. I have a Velcro bag so she’ll likely come along or be close by for any and all exercise. It must be available to purchase in Canada. Bonus points for Canadian companies. Thanks!

Almost 2 weeks PP

Hi all! Hope this is ok!
I’m curious how to determine what level of activity is ok post-partum. I had an uncomplicated vaginal delivery. I had been lifting weights, walking, biking through 1st trimester. By 3rd tri I was mostly walking and doing yoga.

We went for a 20 min walk yesterday and I felt ok.

What kinds of movement did you start with PP?

Is it overzealous of me to sign up for three half marathons which would take place in three consecutive months when I'll be 21+ weeks?

I picked up running days before I learned I was pregnant and am trying to keep it up. My husband is currently training for a marathon next year and he's looking at races to do until then and have found a bundle for three half marathons that take place in September, October, and November. I want to run with him (obviously not together cause I am already slow AF and will continue to be so) but concerns have been brought up that I may not be up for it due to exhaustion and big belly.

The races also have 5ks and 10ks so I could do those distances instead but I low-key feel offended that there is doubt whether or not I can run three half marathons. This is my first pregnancy and I'm just getting back to running so I know it's realistic to limit my expectations. Should I instead first do the 5k, 10k, and then the half? Or just one race instead? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I'm currently at 6weeks and have experienced exhaustion but no nausea yet.

30w and definitely hit a decline

Need reassurance from other gym/pregnancy mamas

Before pregnancy, fitness became a huge part of my life. I had finally gotten consistent in the gym for the first time ever. I lost weight. built routines, and was so proud of myself and my body. I was strength training regularly, walking a lot, tracking protein, and I was becoming healthier.

April hit and I completely fell off. I’m now 30 weeks pregnant with my first baby and lately even getting a walk in feels HARD. Some days I’m exhausted just existing. I sleep a lot, lay down a lot, and feel guilty because I’m not moving the way I used to. I also struggle seeing my body change so quickly. I know pregnancy is beautiful and temporary, but mentally it’s been hard watching myself gain weight, lose muscle definition, feel fluffy/swollen, and not recognize myself some days.

Part of me worries I’m losing all the progress I worked so hard for before pregnancy. Another part of me feels guilty for even caring because I know I’m growing a healthy baby and that should be enough.

Did anyone else go from super motivated in the gym to barely surviving later on in pregnancy? Did you bounce back postpartum? Did your strength/endurance come back? I think I just need reassurance from women who’ve been through this because mentally I’m struggling with the loss of who I used to be before pregnancy.

Personal best at 7.5 weeks

Side note, totally aware that this is probably someone's walking pace but if you've got nothing nice to say move on 😂 I've only been running for a year and I weigh 168lbs so not exactly light. Super proud.

Running while pregnant - tips?

I'm a fair weather runner - I ran varsity XC in high school, but after two knee surgeries, it's more of a hobby than my main form of exercise. I usually run 1-2x a week from spring-fall and take a break in the winter, supplementing with the stationary bike, Pilates, and weight training.

I'm currently 21 weeks pregnant and craving runs, so I finally tried out a belly band and went for an easy mile this morning. I was surprised to feel great the whole time, besides the constant urge to pee. Afterwards, I experienced some mild cramping.

I had planned to run a mile, walk, then run another mile, but I got nervous and just walked home after one.

Is some light cramping normal for you runners out there? And do you have any advice on mitigating the bladder pressure? Finally, any general advice for easing back in/attempting some light training while pregnant?

Thank you!!

Reverse Lunges - I feel like I’m crushing his head!!

12 weeks on Wednesday, FTM, but I can’t bring myself to do reverse lunges. It’s not quite rational but I also can’t talk myself out of it, what are your replacement recommendations?
