Been a devotee on and off for 5 years Let's just say i am working my butt off to be on her good side again i have made broken promises before and always apologize but why is there so much superstition surrounding Santa Muerte and fear about promises? From what i have experienced all she does is slowly take those things she gave you away and when you notice something is not right it's a wake up call from mami but i don't and will never believe she causes misfortune.

My overall experience with her has been positive even when i just got super lazy in my spiritual practice i verbally ended my relationship with her explained my reasoning then got rid of my candles, statues etc, honestly spending on spiritual items is very expensive and I felt bad not holding my end of the bargain so i just gave up.

I Recently got back into spirituality and bought a whole new altar i recently had some drinks from the tequila i bought her with her permission and just promised to turn on her candles before asking for favors again. I guess the purpose of this rant is why is there so many you shouldn't do xyz thing or she will be upset when she is a very understanding mother. Is it just fear mongering?

Hi there! I am pretty novice when it comes to santa muerte i bought her an almost $200 grim reaper statue bottle añejo tequila and when i drink i always only drink my bottles never my offerings. However since this is a statue as well, should i approach sharing the bottle i know many devotees drink with her but what is the right way to go about this without disrespecting her? I also very rarely turn on the candles/ask for favors i just love having her. Let's say i am a lazy practitioner.

Been searching on google and some sub reddits but where does one toss old smoke detectors? I have a kiddie sealed lithium battery that i need tossed should i just throw it in the standard garbage bin outside my apartment complex?

I have another kiddie smoke detector that has changeable batteries is this one also safe to toss?
