To everyone about to join a college
Myself a baby IIM grad and currently a consultant at a global IT firm .
To anyone who has recieved/hoping to revive admits, now is a good time to review how your MBA needs to progress. Your CVs are frozen only a month after your joining of college so it's critical that you work enough in this period to add pointers to. Having been in the Place com I'd advice the following
Work ex : Whatever work ex you have, make sure to present it such that it aligns with your specialisation. Recruiters often want to know how you bring value to them based on your previous endeavours
Academics : totally specialisation based , some give it really good weightage while some don't consider it at all. So best to put it in the bottom part of your CV
Projects: take up projects from Unstop or any referral based firm that you can get. Delivering results shows much more value than academics.
Case comps and quizzes : This is the dark horse of any student. Being able to make presentations that attract eye balls is THE THING to learn in MBA. This not only helps in academia but you'll often find a placement round based on case presentation. Moreover being college rank holders and winning case comps adds a massive weight to your cv.
Thus I suggest to make an Unstop account if not already available and start participating in events. You'll surely be overwhelmed at first but that's how everyone learns the thought process. If required I can share my case materials and refer case events on a regular basis.
Good luck everyone.
Update : From the dms I got, really sorry that I can't reply all but here's a recent opportunity that everyone can try their hands on
