best electric kettle 2026 for tea drinkers who use it every day?

i finally realized my old electric kettle probably needs replacing after years of daily use and now i’m surprised by how deep the kettle rabbit hole goes once you actually start researching them. i originally thought i’d just grab another basic one, but now i keep seeing people talk about variable temperature settings, different materials, faster boiling, quieter kettles, and how certain kettles supposedly make a noticeable difference for tea.

i drink tea multiple times a day, mostly black tea and green tea, so part of me wonders if temperature control is actually worth paying extra for or if it’s one of those features that sounds more important online than it feels in real life.

i’m mainly looking for something reliable that heats quickly, pours well, and doesn’t leave weird tastes in the water after a few months. long term durability matters a lot too because i’d rather buy one good kettle than keep replacing cheap ones every year or two.

for people here who use an electric kettle daily for tea, what ended up being the best purchase for you? and if you upgraded from a basic kettle to a nicer one, did it actually change your tea experience in a noticeable way?

we have a newborn and the monitor we borrowed from my sister is starting to feel really basic. i keep going back and forth on upgrading to something with a proper app and camera setup but there are so many options and i can't tell what actually makes a difference in day to day use.

the app side of things is important to us because we want to be able to check in easily when we're in different parts of the house or when one of us is back at work. i've also seen some that give you sleep insights and patterns over time which sounds genuinely useful but i don't know if that's something parents actually find helpful or just a feature that sounds good in theory. would love to hear what people here are actually using.
