The whole company got laid off

I was working with a Crypto related service company, but because of the bad market and volume, the protocol had to shut down.

Hopefully everyone from the team gets something better soon 🙂

Got an MR for Staff SWE at GitLab. What should I expect?

Hey folks I just got an MR for a Staff engineer role at gitlab and I'm trying to figure out what the interview loop looks like. Has anyone gone through the full process recently?

A few things I'm curious about:

  • What was you experience in each round?
  • How long was the loop and how deep were the technical questions?
  • What topics did they focus on like architecture, scalability, CI/CD, distributed systems, etc.?
  • Any tips on preparation or things they care about most at the staff level?

Thanks in advance for any recent experiences or advice.

I still don't get why people who've done long internships or co-ops aren't considered to have "experience". What's up with that?

How else do freshers survive in this changing industry? Not everyone comes from a Computer Science degree; there are students who gain experience working as interns.

I think it's time tech companies considered internships (like 3 months+) as experience.

Disclaimer: I'm not a fresher and have more than 7 YOE. I just wanted a discussion around this for freshers
