I am a long-time former employee at Meijer. I just heard from a reliable source that Rick Keys the President and CEO of Meijer received a $25,000,000 Bonus. This is in addition to his annual salary which is probably many millions of dollars a year. If this is true it is beyond excessive to give a regional grocery chain that kind of bonus. Meijer has 240 stores which is small compared to Kroger or Alberson's who each have several thousand stores. Instead of giving Rick Keys all that money maybe the company should have given that 25M to all of the 70,000 employees which would be a one-time bonus of $357 dollars especially since Meijer is one of the lowest paying grocery chains in the U.S. If the company paid Rick Keys 25M, can you imagine how much money the Meijer brothers must have made. Does anyone have any knowledge of this?

Do the Meijer stores that are union pay time and half for working on Sunday?

I am a longtime former grocery team member at Meijer #239. During my time there I witnessed three incidents of team members reporting to their mom, brother and wife who was their supervisor either a team leader or lines leader. In one such incident, we had a team member in grocery that reported to his mom that was his team leader. She also wrote the schedule and would give him weekends off so he could go play baseball but the rest us had to work every weekend. His girlfriend also worked there in grocery and reported to his mom. I believe they were both getting the hours they wanted while the store was cutting our hours. There were some complaints, but the store director allowed this. This team leader also refused to post a written paper schedule even though I questioned why one was not posted. She blew it off and I think she did not want us to see all the hours her son and his girlfriend were getting while some of our hours were being cut. I believe she violated two company policies here by not posting a schedule and having her son report directly to her. This is Nepotism and favoritism at its finest. I am not opposed to relatives working in the same store, but they should work in a different department and not report to a relative that is not fair.
