White spot lesions - Treatment recommendation

White spot lesions - Treatment recommendation

Hi everyone!

Please excuse the throwaway, I wanted this on a fresh account due to the anxiety this issue has caused.

I recently had my teeth whitened, following by composite bonding on the two front incisors in the upper row. This was to cover what I think was hypoplasia, where the tooth was very white and stained easily from the cutting edge to the halfway point.

I'm happy with how both procedures went, my smile looks way better and I can actually look at my smile without wincing now.

That being said, the whitening appears to have exposed some white spot lesions on my front teeth. I'm looking for suggestions on how I could get these addressed. They seem smooth and shiny (so likely inactive), and my dentist didn't mention them being an issue during my check ups/consultation.

For context, I'm in my thirties. You've probably heard it before, but parents never taught me to brush etc. so I began to take oral hygiene seriously about ten years ago, but a lot of the damage was done. I currently have nine fillings. My dentist says I have excellent oral hygiene. Brush 2-3 times a day, waterpik in the morning and night, rinse after every meal.

As far as I'm aware, I have three options.

  • Curodont - Least intrusive and cheapest option. My research tells me that this procedure has the most varied results, and may reduce their appearance, but they're likely still going to be visible. I've also seen mixed opinions here on reddit.
  • IKON - The middle option. I'm told this will likely make them vanish entirely. However, I'm concerned that I'm going to be stuck in a cycle of having to get them re-treated every two years to maintain the result.
  • Composite bonding - Get even more bonding done. I'm reluctant to do this due to the up front cost, as well as the implications with biting/chewing. Would just the WSLs be able to be bonded, or would the whole surface from gumline to incisal edge need to be done like my incisors?

I'd be very grateful if I could get your input on the above, and if there are any options that I haven't considered. Or even just what you would recommend I do.

Thank you for your time, I really appreciate it.
