The USL-W league is getting under way starting today and we have 5 Colorado teams!
The USL-W league is a pre-professional league that has 95 teams segmented into 4 conferences (Central, Eastern, Southern, and Western) and 16 divisions. Colorado teams play in Western Conference within the Mountain Division, which includes 6 teams:
- Albion SC Colorado
- CISA (Colorado International Soccer Academy)
- Colorado Storm (formerly associated with the Colorado Rapids)
- Flatirons FC
- Real Colorado (new this year)
- Utah United (ranked first in the preseason rankings - they won the title last year).
Many of the players are top college players who are in the offseason for their college team getting good coaching and workouts while not impacting their college eligibility. There are players who have made the US National Teams and many from top-20 college teams including BYU, Georgetown, Wisconsin, Texas Tech, and many others, so it's good quality soccer.
Games are easy to attend, usually costing only around $5. Games are played around town including at Regis, Highlands Heritage Park Stadium, Englewood High School, Peak to Peak Charter School, Victoria Sports Park, School of Mines, and LPS Centennial Stadium. The first games start today - May 19. Come support women's soccer!
