What is this mite? And possibly how to deal with it?

For about a week now, I keep finding one or two of those mites a day running around my desk, door handle (of a door leading to a balcony), PC, and on my Britta filter in my water jug.
My desk faces a large window that leads to a balcony.

Today I cleaned my desk and everything around it. I found four in total during my cleaning today. My bed sits right next to my desk, so I changed the sheets.

I live in a 9-story commie flat in Southeast Europe. The balcony has many plants, and birds are frequent visitors.

From my research, I think it is Dermanyssus gallinae, but I'm not sure, as I am not an expert. It pops when squished, and it is quite durable.

I have a cat, and I am concerned that it might be attacked. I cannot see any on its fur for now.

Edit: I wasn't very concerned since I found only a few of them, but now that I uploaded the post, I've started checking around the windows and have killed about 50 of them. They are everywhere. I can see them on the ceiling, too. I am quite spooked and not sure if I'll be able to sleep tonight.
