Pay ahead status & autopay

I am in repayment status with my loans. I recently paid a large amount of money to Mohela and I will be in pay ahead status.

Due to this pay ahead status I will not need to make another payment until I recertify next year, but I was advised to remove autopay so money doesn’t get taken out of my account on a monthly basis.

The rep said that despite being in pay ahead status, if I still have autopay set up then Mohela will continue to take money out of my account on a monthly basis. He said that is how the system is set up.

I elected to remove the autopay.

Anyone who is in repayment status and is now on pay ahead status, were you told the same thing?

Ethical or unprofessional to charge this fee?

Location: United States

Hello. I hired an attorney who wrote a legal letter for me. The attorney drafted part of the letter and we reviewed the first unfinished draft together. I then sent the attorney information to add to the letter (per their request as this information was pertinent). The attorney the sends me a final letter.

The problem is that within the final letter there were many errors. It was very obvious the letter was not proofread as there was information that did not pertain to my case and other careless errors. It was clear this person did NOT do a thorough job.

I reviewed the letter, sent my edits, and politely asked to have this information fixed. The attorney fixed the errors and then billed me for the time it took for them to fix the document that was clearly not proofread.

Is it ethical (unprofessional?) for this attorney to bill me for their carelessness? Why should I be responsible for paying for the extra time it took for them to fix their own mistakes?

I’d like to understand other attorney’s perspectives on this. Thank you.

Summary: Attorney didn’t proofread. I caught the mistakes and now attorney billed me for their time.
