Finally received golden letter from student aid May 21, 2026. I kept receiving messages saying "you have no loans that are not eligible for forgiveness". Checked again in the 'my activity' section on fsa; scrolled all the way down to find correspondence saying "PSLF Forgiveness Notification". I am elated that the student aid parole board will be notifying mohela to release me in 30 days. Keep hope alive fellow cohorts. God is good all the time.

Logged onto the website yesterday. Noticed I had a payment amount of $0.00 with status of "no payment due".

Received an email today advising the schedule to repay has been changed.

Logged onto the website. Received a letter explaining the potential reasons the schedule changed (deferment ending, forbearance ending, etc).

None of these apply to me that I am aware of.

The letter then states that my new monthly payment has changed. However, the "new" amount payment amount is the same as the current one.

Called MOHELA. Rep explained that when I recertified last year the repayment schedule was for 11 months rather than 12.

Apparently their system eventually caught this and I've been placed into a forbearance (although the website doesnt acknowledge that).

Rep couldn't comment regarding whether these months of forbearance would count towards my PSLF.

So... on the one hand I have some financial flexibility for the next few months.

On the other hand... wtf. I didnt have high confidence in MOHELA to begin with.

Has anyone seen anything like this before?

Hi, wondering if anyone has run into a similar situation. I am currently in year 12 of PSLF and my payment history at 130 payments. Last month, April, I got my green banners for 120. I am missing credit for 10 qualifying payments that do not show at all on the PSLF tracker but I do have record of them with MOHELA. I submitted a reconsideration request in 2025 and only just got a closed notification because I reached 120, they did not even address the missing payments. My question is, how do I get those payments on the tracker so I am owed a refund? I attempted to request the refund directly from MOHELA stating if I’m not getting credit for these voluntary overpayments (I kept paying to still reach 120 and not wait for them to fix the issue) then I want them back. MOHELAs response is that payment refunds must be requested within 60 days. I’m worried once I receive my golden letter FSA won’t even try to fix it. Is it a lost cause? It’s quite a bit of money that I don’t want to let it go but not sure it’s worth an attorney. TYIA!
