As a salesperson I essentially speak for a living. One day my jaw popped out of place, or I had lock jaw or something. The pain was excruciating. I was put on T3s, muscle relaxers, and anti inflammatory meds daily for months. Was off work on disability for 4 months. Gradually things got better but not all the way. Surgeons approach was arthrocentesis but I’m not convinced it helped. Did physio, chiro, jaw exercises, meditation for months and saw minor improvements. Ultimately I’ve had TMJ for maybe 20 years but since this incident I’ve been in chronic pain. Its been three years since then. I inquired about a jaw replacement surgery but the surgeon said I’m nowhere close as a candidate. These days I basically drink daily to deal with the pain and pop pills a couple times a month. I’m 41. I’m seriously concerned about this condition deteriorating over time. Unfortunately it seems like there is no real cure. I’d break the bank to fix it. Wondering if anyone else here is in a similar position.
