Spear's rework is such a joke. The lunge barely worked before but with reduced range you travel so little that you get slowed down and can't gap close against a retreating heavy.
You can test this in the practice range for yourself if you think the slide was the reason I didn't reach them. Spear is in such a bad state because of how strong sledge is now (you can't even keep a slight range advantage against it anymore and it recharges stamina faster) and this is just a cherry on top.
