What does the incision actually feel like during recovery?

My elective c section is in a few weeks and im starting to get cold feet. Im going with c section due to baby measuring very large and not wanting to worsen my grade 2 uterine prolapse. Anyway baby has dropped and im now feeling so much pressure in my pelvis that im getting discouraged about how much pain I can actually take.

I know c section recovery is hard but im wondering if someone can try to describe what it actually feels like when youre recovering? Was anyone confident about c section recovery and then humbled by worse pain than they imagined ? Im mostly looking for answers from those that have had planned/elective c sections please, but anyone is welcomed to give their input.

My c section is next month and ive been reading everything I can on reddit and Facebook. One common thing I see is infections of c section incisions. How can I avoid getting an infection? How do most women develop these infections in the first place ? Is infection as common as i think it is or am i just noticing it more since im scared of it? Just curious to hear peoples experiences

Any other massage therapists here ??

Im 29 days away from my elective c section (due to prolapse and large baby), and i was wondering if theres any other massage therapists here that can tell me about their c section recoveries ? I have 8-10 weeks off work after my c section and im worried it wont be enough time to recover. Being a massage therapist is an incredibly physically demanding job. If youre a massage therapist how did it feel going back to work? Did you do anything postpartum to make it easier pr anything during pregnancy to prep?

Easy vs hard recovery, what made the difference for you?

Im 1 month away from my elective c section and im trying to mentally and physically prepare as best I can. In reading about c sections i see that the recovery period can vary vastly from person to person, with some being very happy with their c section and feeling recovered quicker than others, and some taking a very long time to recover and having a really hard time. So im curious to hear your opinions on what affected your recovery the most, good and bad. If you had an "easy" recovery did you do anything specific to prepare or anything post delivery to recover faster/more efficiently? If you had a "hard" recovery why do you think it ended up being that way?

I have also heard that elective c sections are easier to recover from vs emergency c sections, do you agree ?

For some context Im opting for the c section for several reasons, the main reason being my baby is in the 95th percentile and I have a grade 2 uterine prolapse that I REALLY do not want to make worse. I have considered attempting vaginal delivery but the doctor has warned that due to babies size it may end up requiring an emergency c section anyway.

Traveling with a toddler - go home or stick it out?

Were currently on a weekend trip and it has been an absolute nightmare. The 4.5 hr car ride was a disaster, playing in and outside of the cabin were at has been hell, and now he is refusing bedtime. Im 7 months pregnant and honestly I just want to get the hell out of here and go home ASAP. My dilemma is this - i want my son to get used to taking trips and feel comfortable away from home and his routine. So do I stay and help him get used to vacations, or go home and have peace?

edit update: we decided to stay. once he fell asleep he stayed asleep the entire night with no wake ups ( just like at home). he'll be up any minute and im feeling optimistic about today and tonight. thanks for the advice everyone !
