Hi everyone,

I really dislike my current job and can’t leave it right now for personal/financial reasons. My goal is to keep my work phone extension busy as much as possible so I get fewer incoming calls.

I’m using 3CX but I’m not very technical with VoIP systems. I’m hoping someone can explain it in a simple, step-by-step way for a beginner.

What I want to achieve:

• Make my extension show as “In Use” or “Busy” for long periods
• Call my own extension from other numbers

What I’m considering (but don’t know how to implement):

• Using additional phone numbers or services to call my own 3CX extension
• Setting up a second trunk or extra extension
• Some kind of automatic or looping call to myself

Questions:

1. Has anyone done something similar with 3CX to keep an extension busy?
2. What’s the easiest way for a beginner to do this?
3. Are there any good services for getting extra numbers to call myself?
4. What are the risks I should be aware of (with my provider or 3CX)?
5. Is there a simpler way to mark the line as busy without using too many minutes?
