I’m Working on designing a replacement float for the 2 stroke wave runner fuel sending unit

I decided to design a replacement float for the fuel sensor on the older Yamaha 2 stroke wave runners. Since the float was bad and fuel logged on mine I figured I’d try to remake it since the sending unit itself works fine. Lmk if anyone has any interest in fixing theirs once I nail the design and buoyancy down, I will be testing on my machine first

My Gp1200 and the Gp800R I rescued from getting scrapped

The gp1200 never had a problem but the gp800r was given to me from a buddy after he blew the engine up (dropped a power valve and seized a rod along with a little hull damage) I ended up gathering the special tools I needed over the winter which consisted of a press and a bench center fixture so I could rebuild and true up the crank, then put on new cylinders, pistons, seals, gaskets, and rebuilt the carbs all myself so it’s basically a brand new engine and started on the hull repair just waiting for the filler to harden so I can sand and gelcoat it. Plus the bonus Polaris slt780 I saved.

Finally got the time to rebuild the motor of free gp800r and it was a success!

I got motor pulled on the free gp800r, turns out a power valve dropped into the rear cylinder causing the connecting rod bearing to basically melt, so I ended up ordering a new rod kit, and a crankshaft web, pressed the new parts back on, trued it myself to about 1.5 thou of runout, new pistons, new cylinders, complete gasket kit, rebuilt the carbs, reassembled, dropped it back into the ski earlier tonight and she fired right up and sounds great!

Picked this beauty up the other day!

Picked up this southbend model a lathe the other day, it’s a 9” with power feeds on both slides, came with a bin of tooling hss and carbide, and according to the serial number it was built in 1918
