Question on linked and overcharge
My buddy and I are both going back and forth on this. Basically our thoughts are as follows:
Linked makes two weapons count as one for order purposes. Overcharged says you can only overcharge one weapon. Does this mean you can overcharge both of the linked weapons as they count as one weapon, or do you count them as one weapon when figuring out how many you can shoot, but once it comes to assigning/firing, then you count them as two? We can’t find any faq addressing this specific scenario, and the wording in the orders/attacking section don’t seem to be specific enough for us to say 100% either way.
*edit to possibly better explain our train of thought:*
The linked rule states “Weapons with the same Linked-X value on the same Ship count as 1 Weapon for
Orders purposes”.
In the section about orders, it states “Orders are performed in the specified sequence, completing one action (moving, turning, attacking,
etc) with the Group before moving on
to the next action”.
To my buddy and I, this sounds like attacking is considered part of the order, as you complete it.
The overcharge rule states “Only one weapon per ship may benefit from this rule per activation”.
Are we right to read it as: Because the weapon counts as 1 weapon for the whole order, and attacking falls under performing the order, the two linked weapons count as 1 weapon when you go to overcharge it? This feels like an obvious loophole, so we wanna check with others’ train of thoughts on the wording of it all
Any help to clear this is appreciated!
